Welcome to the Timber Towns Victoria (TTV) website
Timber Towns Victoria (TTV) is an incorporated local government association representing the interests of municipal councils in relation to forestry on both public and private land.
 
The Association’s primary function is to provide a forum for local government to address the management of forests and forest industries and their impact on local communities.
 
Timber Industry Road Evaluation Study

The 2011 Timber Industry Road Evaluation Study (TIRES) has now been released.

The study is a joint collaboration from local government, Regional Development Victoria, Department of Transport, VicRoads, Department of Primary Industries, VicForests and HVP Plantations.

Key findings include:

  • 330 roads listed for upgrade across Victoria
  • These roads will cart 41.3 million tonnes of logs during 2011 - 2015
  • The total cost of works required to upgrade the roads is $95.6 million.

Annual General Meeting Success

 

Timber Towns Victoria is pleased to announce that the annual general meeting of 2012 was a success. This event was held at Parliament House, Melbourne on Friday 30 March, with representatives from Parliament, Industry and Member Councils in attendance.

 

Guest speakers provided insightful and informative presentations which inspired a thought provoking question time. 

 

Mark Sandiford, Acting Policy Manager, Forest Industries Policy Branch (Department of Primary Industry) presented on the Timber Industry Action Plan.

 

Neil Allen, General Manager of Infrastructure and Services (Colac Otway Shire) presented on the impact of timber impacted roads in the Colac Otway Shire.

 

The official business of the Association concluded the morning, with the election of office bearers for the coming year. Cr Jan Vonarx of Alpine Shire Council was elected for President, with Cr Jenny Blake from Golden Plains Shire Council was elected as Vice President.  Mr Steve Kozlowski of East Gippsland Shire Council was again elected Treasurer.
